Don’t touch bailout money- Umahi warns Council boss

Don’t touch bailout money- Umahi warns Council boss.

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state has warned local government chairmen and Accountant General of the state to avoid diverting  bailout funds  the state received from the federal government.
Speaking shortly after inaugurating the local government joint project committee in Abakaliki, Governor Umahi warned that the bailout fund accrued to the local governments will be merely used to pay salaries of staff of the council areas.
He said the council chairmen must ensure they do not divert the funds to any other project other than payment of workers’ salaries from the N3 billion bailout funds which must be used to pay salaries on 20th of every month.
“The chairmen must ensure that nobody diverts the N3billion fund to any other project, it must be used to pay workers salaries at the local government and other increment thereof and I want to urge the council chairmen to ensure every worker get at least 5kg of rice”
